Becoming a Councillor & Vacancies

Shrawley Parish Council will consider filling by co-option vacancies for a Councillor at its meetings in 2021 as applications arise.

Those who are interested in serving the community in this way and want to become a candidate for co-option should fill an application form for candidacy available here and return to the clerk.  Completed application forms should be returned to the Clerk by the 1st of each calendar month.

Once the council has filled its vacancies then this process will end.

Information on eligibility, the role of the Parish Council and its schedule of meetings may be obtained from the Parish Clerk.

The Parish Council of Shrawley has a Parish Councillor vacancy to be filled by co-option.

Are you interested in local affairs? Is there a particular matter that concerns you? Join our Parish Council!  We are actively involved in many issues from highways to planning applications.  We are able to participate in many diverse topics and use our influence to represent the best interests of our parish.

We meet 6 times a year and our Local Councillor and County Councillor attend to give their reports and take questions. There is lively debate at meetings and members have the opportunity to take up particular issues that interest them.

Those who are interested in serving the community in this way and want to become a candidate for co-option should obtain an application form from the Clerk.

Any applicant should be over 18, a British subject or citizen of the Republic of Ireland, and either: –

  1. A local government elector of the parish, or
  2. Has during the previous 12 months occupied as owner or tenant any land or premises in the parish, or
  3. His/Her principal or only place of work during that 12 months has been in that area, or
  4. Has during the whole of those 12 months resided in the area, or within 3 miles (4.8 kilometres) of it.
